Nalders LLP acquisition of Hine Downing

We are excited to announce that terms have been agreed for Nalders LLP to acquire Hine Downing, with effect from close of business on Friday 30 May 2025. We understand that clients may have questions about what this means for them, so we have put together some key information to provide clarity and reassurance.

1. What does this acquisition mean for me as a client?

You will continue to receive the same high-quality legal service you always have. Our acquisition brings together two well-established firms with deep roots in Cornwall, allowing us to offer even greater expertise while maintaining the personal approach you value.

2. Will the person handling my case change?

In the vast majority of cases, the person handling your case will remain the same. If any adjustments are needed, we will communicate them clearly and ensure a smooth handover so that you continue to receive the best possible support.

3. Is my matter still being handled in the same way?

Yes, all ongoing matters will continue as usual, and there is no need for you to take any action. If there are any updates specific to your case, your solicitor will be in touch directly.

4. Will the office in Falmouth remain open?

Yes, the Falmouth office will continue to operate as part of Nalders LLP. You can still visit the same location, and we will ensure a seamless transition for all clients.

5. Are contact details changing?

For now, you can continue using the same phone numbers and email addresses to reach your solicitor. Over time, we may consolidate contact details, but we will provide full updates well in advance.

6. Will there be any changes to fees or terms of service?

No, your terms of engagement remain the same. Any future updates will be communicated transparently, but our commitment to fair and competitive pricing remains unchanged.

7. What additional services will be available as a result of the merger?

By joining forces, we are expanding our pool of expertise, which means more legal knowledge, experience, and resources at your disposal. Whether you require personal or business legal support, our combined firm is well-equipped to assist.

8. What happens to documents held by Hine Downing?

Deeds and wills remain in safe storage as before unless you ask us to return those documents to you. All reasonable efforts will be made to contact property owners and testators to seek instructions as to the continued storage of their documents, and to provide information on their current location. Ultimately, in the absence of any response from testators or owners, we will make appropriate arrangements for the safe-keeping of any unclaimed wills and deeds.

9. Who should I contact if I have further questions?

If you have any concerns or queries, please do not hesitate to reach out to your usual contact at Hine Downing. We are here to ensure this transition is seamless and positive for all our clients.

10. Will my mortgage offer still be valid after the acquisition?

Where Hine Downing was acting for you in a property transaction, and the matter is not completed by 30 May 2025, Nalders will (subject to your consent) take over representation and continue to act for you with no disruption to the process.

In overwhelming majority of cases mortgage offers will remain valid and there will be no need to obtain a new one. We are in touch with various lender panels and lenders to ensure that lenders are notified and to ensure that any ongoing cases and relevant lender instructions are transferred appropriately.

If your lender has specific requirements that result in any changes, we will contact you directly to discuss next steps. Our priority is to ensure that your transaction progresses smoothly and without delay.

We appreciate your continued trust and look forward to serving you as Nalders LLP.
